Event: Introduction to Egocentric Network Analysis

Workshop in Social Network Analysis Methods

Friday, Oct 19th 2018 at 9:30 am-12:30 pm
Social Science Research Commons (Woodburn 200)

This 3 hour introductory workshop will cover core egocentric network concepts, provide an overview of foundational theory, and briefly describe analytic approaches to egocentric network data. After describing the differences between egocentric and sociometric forms of social network analysis, we will discuss study design considerations, including conceptualization, data collection, and analyzing egocentric network data. This workshop will emphasize the flexibility and utility of egocentric network techniques, with a special focus on research in the health and social sciences. No prior knowledge of egocentric social network analysis is required.

The workshop will be lead by Dr. Erin Pullen, IUNI Research Scientist. You are encouraged to bring your own laptop, but computers are available in the SSRC. In addition, some lab materials will be made available for you in Stata.
