Event: IUNI Workshop: Introduction to Social Network Analysis

Getting Started in Social Network Analysis

Wednesday, Dec 1st 2021 at 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Zoom / SSRC Grand Hall (Woodburn Hall, Bloomington)

Instructor: Dr. Ann McCranie

Have you heard about social network analysis (SNA) and you would like to learn more about how this might apply to your research? This introductory workshop will provide a broad background into the field and help you understand how your research interests might intersect with SNA. It will define major SNA approaches of egocentric research and sociometric social analysis, and it will also provide resources for learning more: finding courses at IU, major textbooks and journals, software options, data resources at IU and beyond, workshops, talk series, and other opportunities to include SNA in your research.

No software will be used in the workshop, but it will be followed in January 2022 by another introductory course using the statnet and igraph packages in R.

Prerequisites: none.

This workshop will be held on-line, with a limited number of seats available in-person. Both attendance options require registration. Click here to register.
