Not being properly represented in the training data comes at a cost to the under-sampled majority when machine learning algorithms are used to aid human decision-makers. Tina Eliassi-Rad will discuss our null model for fairness and demonstrate how to use deviations from this null model to measure favoritism and prejudice in the data.

IUNI and NetSI (Northeastern University) will co-host the 2020 Summer Institute in Network Science and its Applications (SINSA 2020) in Boston, Mass. The two-week institute will cover both the fundamentals and specific applications of network science theories and methods and feature 16 distinguished instructors.
