Doctor Shopping

This National Institute of Health study uses advanced computational and statistical methods to identify patients who are “doctor shopping,” or when patients visit multiple physicians to get new drug prescriptions. The study also identifies which physicians those patients are targeting. Doctor shopping is a key indicator of prescription drug abuse.
IUNI provides technical assistance with this project, particularly in the management of the very large prescribing dataset the investigators are utilizing.
